We've been taking a hiatus from performing this summer to recharge, spend time with our families and just enjoy the summer. Don't worry though, we're still picking and singing here and there! Sam, Adrienne and Kim went to see The Greencards perform in Santa Cruz last night and I know they'll come back inspired! ~Abby

Well, Rivertown has been having a long winter/spring. Hope everyone out there has been hearing good music and having a good time. Rivertown has been making music, recording music and practicing. We are still out here, busy with school and work, but singing, too.
Hey, we are still out here, though we have been busy with mundanity rather than music, but we did get out of our little cages to go and absorb some acoustic sound last week.
Wow, it is hard to be too effusive about the Infamous Stringdusters. Some of us Rivertowners were able to go to the wonderful Miner's Foundry in Nevada City to see them perform on Wednesday, November 16th. The Stringdusters did not disappoint, as they took over the stage and played their amazing brand of acoustic and bluegrass music. Every player a virtuoso on his instrument, and all of them amazed by each other, combined to envelop us in a wall of acoustic bliss. I think each one of us went away inspired and maybe a little discouraged, inspired to play more music, to try harder, to keep stretching ourselves, and discouraged because the Stringdusters raise the bar so HIGH!
All in all, we had a great time watching some of the best players out there.
Signing off for Rivertown,
Hardly Strictly Bluegrass was amazing! We went on Friday, and found the Banjo stage mobbed for the Seldom Scene. The sweet sounds of their harmony wafted through sunny Golden Gate Park and made me feel at home :-) We also saw Del McCoury and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band play. As always, Del and the band put on an energetic show. The man is a pro and an inspiration.
Robert Plant and the Band of Joy closed out the day at the Banjo Stage to a roaring, feeling no pain, want to have a good time, mass of people. Buddy Miller did a song and owned the audience, and then Robert Plant, Patty Griffin, and Buddy Miller did a number with three or four part harmony at the end of which the crowd just went wild. We got out of there after that and escaped the city by the bay just before everyone else to return to our little cabin in the woods. :-)
Thanks to all that have been coming to our gigs this summer! You made performing a whole lot more rewarding :-)
We don't have any upcoming gigs right now, but we will be busy with our repertoire and our recording project. Keep stopping by the website or our facebook page to see if we have added any gigs for the fall and winter.
Some of us will be going to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival in San Francisco September 30th -October 2nd. Check out their website to see all the amazing bands that will be there. I am hoping to see Buddy Miller, Del McCoury, Patty Griffith, Emmy Lou Harris, and a lot of other amazing performers.
Stay busy, make some money, keep listening to good music, and come out and see us when we are playing!!
4th of July in Garden Valley was the best. We love living here, and playing for our friends and neighbors! The day was a bit on the warm side, but the sound was good, and lots of folks came out to celebrate our Independence day.
A big THANK YOU! to all of you that came to see us at the 2011 Rockin' and Wranglin' El Dorado County Fair! The fair was epic, the weather was amazing, and our audience was the best! We had a great time playing for you, and we hope you'll come and see us again soon!
We had a great time playing at Marco's Cafe in Coloma on Friday night, June 3rd. The food was good, the weather held, and the fun loving souls at Marco's cafe were a great audience. We will be playing there again on Saturday,June 25th, so come out to enjoy some great food, good music, and great summertime fun Rivertown style. :-)
